Resolve column mapping conflicts

A column mapping connects one spreadsheet header to one CatalogIQOS destination field. A conflict occurs when multiple source columns target a destination that stores one value. CatalogIQOS blocks validation until that ambiguity is removed, because silently choosing a value could corrupt canonical metadata.

Select the correct Workspace and Catalog, upload a CSV or XLSX file, and choose a worksheet. Preserve the source file until the import has completed.

Open Catalog → Spreadsheet Import (/data-hub). After upload, open Advanced Mapping. It opens automatically when conflicts exist.

1. Read the Mapping Issues count and locate rows labeled Conflicts with another row.
2. Compare each source header and sample value with the selected CatalogIQOS field.
3. Keep the mapping that contains the authoritative value; choose another destination or select Ignore for the other row.
4. Use Apply Recommended Mapping only after reviewing its proposed ignored aliases.
5. Confirm that Mapping Issues is zero, then select Validate Data.

Common collisions include Tempo and BPM both targeting BPM, Description and Notes targeting Description, or Composer IPI and Publisher IPI targeting one scalar identifier. Album and Release Year should never share a destination because they represent different facts.

Resolving mappings only changes the import proposal. No track is persisted until validation succeeds and an authorized user selects Import N Tracks.

Prefer stable identifiers over free text, ignore redundant aliases, and save a mapping profile only after a representative file validates correctly.

A conflict can return after selecting a profile when the new worksheet has different headers. A high-confidence automatic mapping is still a suggestion and may be changed.

If the conflict count does not clear, inspect every highlighted row for the same destination. If the table is difficult to scan, reduce browser zoom temporarily or download the source headers for comparison. Never combine writer and publisher identifiers merely to bypass validation.
