Edit track metadata

Track Detail is the canonical workspace for reviewing and changing one track. Metadata includes identity, recording identifiers, descriptive fields, musical attributes, release context, and operational flags. Rights and audio use separate sections so a metadata edit does not silently change ownership or source assets.

Open the correct Catalog and confirm that your Workspace role permits metadata editing. Gather authoritative values for title, artist, ISRC, version, genre, duration, BPM, key, explicit status, and release information.

Open Catalog → Tracks (/catalog), select a track, and locate the Metadata section on Track Detail.

1. Select Open to inspect metadata in view mode, or Edit Metadata to open the section and editor in one action.
2. Update only fields supported by your source evidence; distinguish recording identifiers such as ISRC from composition identifiers such as ISWC.
3. Review alternate title or version wording, genre, mood, energy, keywords, duration, BPM, key, explicit and instrumental status, territory, and release values.
4. Use the sticky action area to save without losing your position in a long form.
5. Wait for the save result, refresh if prompted, and confirm the displayed canonical values.
6. Select Collapse to close the section; collapsing does not discard a completed save or perform a save itself.

Saved values become canonical track metadata and can affect audit findings, CatalogIQ, discovery, and exports. AI suggestions remain proposals unless separately accepted.

Use identifiers from authoritative sources, name versions consistently, and avoid using Notes as a substitute for structured fields.

Selecting Open enters view mode, not edit mode. Collapsing before saving can leave edits uncommitted. An ISWC belongs to the musical work, while an ISRC identifies a recording.

If Edit Metadata is unavailable, verify your role. If saved values appear unchanged, check the result message and refresh once. Resolve validation messages field by field instead of entering filler text.
