Using the Rights Directory

A Contributor or Publisher created in Rights Center becomes a reusable workspace record that can be assigned to multiple tracks. The directory stores party identity and reference details once. Track relationships separately store the role, ownership, publishing administration, territory, verification, or control that applies to one track.

The workflow is Directory → Assign → Ownership → Validate → Resolve → Ready. CatalogIQOS does not automatically assign parties, infer legal ownership, or guarantee clearance.

1. Create or review reusable Contributors and Publishers.
2. Open Track Detail and select existing directory records.
3. Set track-specific composition ownership, administration, and master-control values.
4. Review implemented validation warnings and readiness signals.
5. Correct directory identity data or track relationships as appropriate.
6. Review tracks satisfying the current CatalogIQOS readiness checks.

The directory avoids re-entering the same writer or publisher for every track, keeps PRO/IPI/CAE identity data consistent, supports cleaner rights review, and reduces duplicate party records. Updating a reusable party’s identity can be reflected wherever that party is referenced; track-specific percentages remain independent.

For example, Contributor Directory record Camila Duarte holds identity, PRO, IPI, and CAE details. Track A can reference Camila at 50% composition ownership while Track B references the same Contributor ID at 25%. Those percentages belong to separate TrackContributor relationships, not to Camila’s directory identity.

In Rights Center, open Rights Directory → Contributors. The form supports First Name, Last Name, required Display Name, Email, Role, PRO, IPI, CAE, Country, Verification Status, and Notes. Only Display Name is required by the current form.

Contributor means the reusable workspace-level person record. Its default directory Role can be Writer, Composer, Lyricist, Producer, Arranger, Featured Artist, Performer, Master Owner, or Other. A track assignment stores its own supported role, so Contributor and Writer are not interchangeable terms.

After creation, CatalogIQOS reports Contributor added to Rights Directory and offers Open Tracks. The person may then be selected on multiple tracks.

In Rights Directory → Publishers, enter required Publisher Name and optional Contact Email, PRO, IPI, Country, Verification Status, and Notes. Publisher records do not currently have a separate CAE field in the Prisma model.

A Publisher Directory record stores reusable publisher identity. It is not a track-level Publisher Assignment. After creation, CatalogIQOS reports Publisher added to Rights Directory and links to Tracks.

Open a canonical Track and its Rights & Ownership workflow. Add or Edit Writer says Select an existing Contributor and creates or updates a TrackContributor relationship. Add Publisher Assignment says Select an existing Publisher and creates a writer-specific WriterPublisherAssignment. Master ownership uses a Publisher directory record through TrackOwnership.

If a selector is empty, use Add Contributor to Directory or Add Publisher to Directory, then return to the track after creation. CatalogIQOS does not duplicate the full directory form inside every track.

Track-specific rights values do not belong on the reusable party identity:

• TrackContributor stores creative role, composition ownership and society shares, publishing status, territory, verification, and notes.
• WriterPublisherAssignment connects a specific track writer interest to a Publisher and stores administration percent, territory, agreement data, dates, verification, and notes.
• TrackOwnership stores publishing, administration, or master ownership percentage, control percentage, territory, and notes for a track.
• Rights records store licensing and clearance details such as territory, one-stop status, and clearance status where implemented.

Composition ownership should total 100% under the implemented calculation. Writer shares and publisher administration percentages describe different relationships and should not be added together as one total.

Rights Validation evaluates the selected catalog’s current relationships. Implemented checks include missing contributors, absent ownership percentages, composition totals that differ from 100%, calculation conflicts, missing Contributor PRO or IPI, missing publisher assignments, partially unadministered publishing interests, missing Publisher PRO/IPI/verification, incomplete writer-specific assignments, missing territory, one-stop and clearance statuses, and critical ownership conflicts.

Contributor and publisher verification status is stored identity/assignment metadata; setting it to Verified should be based on authoritative documentation. Validation remains separate from creating the directory record.

Use Incomplete Splits to open writer ownership issues and correct the affected Track relationship. Use High Risk Issues and Rights Issues to review critical administrative readiness signals. Open Publisher Administration Issues for writer-specific publishing gaps. Correct reusable identity fields in Rights Directory and relationship fields in Track Detail.

High Risk is a CatalogIQOS administrative rights-readiness classification, not a legal opinion. A complete 100% total does not itself prove title or clearance.

Licensing Ready counts tracks whose evaluation returns HIGH under the implemented readiness method. That method uses the normalized rights score plus complete composition ownership, complete publisher validation/administration, verified Contributors, no remaining warnings or missing fields, and no critical warnings.

It does not mean third-party verification, guaranteed legal clearance, guaranteed one-stop control, placement, or royalty eligibility. If no tracks are applicable, Rights Center displays an em dash instead of conflating no data with a measured zero.

Before creating a party, Rights Center checks supported workspace fields. Contributors are compared using name plus PRO and, when supplied, Email, IPI, or CAE. Publishers use name plus PRO and, when supplied, Contact Email or IPI. A likely match is surfaced and no new record is created. CatalogIQOS does not automatically merge existing duplicates.

The database also enforces workspace/name/PRO uniqueness. Matching is conservative and exact; spelling variations, punctuation, aliases, and missing identifiers can still produce separate records and require human review.

• Contributor does not appear in track selector: confirm it belongs to the same Workspace, is not stored with a publisher-only role, refresh Track Detail, and reopen the Rights drawer.
• Publisher does not appear in track selector: confirm it is a Publisher record in the same Workspace, refresh, and reopen Select Existing Publisher.
• Duplicate Contributor or Publisher: Rights Center surfaces likely exact matches and links to Edit. Review rather than creating another spelling variant; no automatic merge exists.
• Ownership does not total 100%: edit each track’s Contributor relationship. Directory identity edits cannot change track-specific percentages.
• Publisher assignment missing: add a writer first, then select an existing Publisher and set administration percent and territory.
• PRO missing: edit the reusable Contributor or Publisher directory record so every assignment references the corrected identity.
• IPI/CAE missing: Contributors support IPI and CAE; Publishers currently support IPI only. Add authoritative identifiers in the directory.
• Verification status remains pending: edit the directory record or assignment and save Verified only with supporting evidence; status is not automatically verified.
• Licensing Ready remains 0: review missing fields, warnings, ownership, publisher validation, Contributor verification, territory, one-stop, and clearance signals. Zero is measured when tracks exist.
• Rights issue remains after edit: confirm the canonical save succeeded and refresh Rights Center. Ensure you edited the identity or relationship actually named by the warning.
• Track shows old Contributor data: refresh after editing the directory record. Reusable identity details are referenced by ID, but cached/server-rendered pages require reload.
• Cannot remove an assigned Contributor or Publisher: remove its track assignments first. Rights Center blocks directory deletion while referenced to avoid cascading relationship loss.

Rights Center supports administrative data quality and readiness review. Use authoritative agreements, registrations, and qualified rights review for ownership and clearance decisions.
